Ithaca College

ITHACA COLLEGE: A PREFERRED EMPLOYER

Ithaca College is a private residential college, located in the scenic Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Coeducational and nonsectarian, the College is an internationally known and respected institution with approximately 6,400 undergraduate and 430 graduate students, who come to Ithaca from nearly every state and more than 80 countries. The curriculum provides more than 2,000 courses in 101 undergraduate degree programs and 27 graduate programs available through the College's five schools. While the breadth of its curriculum is normally found only at larger universities, Ithaca holds fast to its tradition of close, personal instruction (12:1 student-faculty ratio). Approximately 70 percent of undergraduates reside on campus.

From its founding in 1892 as the Ithaca Conservatory of Music, Ithaca has had a distinctive and distinguished history of interweaving the threads of liberal and professional education. The liberal arts offerings of its largest school, Humanities and Sciences, are integrated throughout the programs of study in each of its four professional schools: Business, Communications, Health Sciences and Human Performance, and Music. Courses and programs are also available in the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies which are designed to expose students to a wide range of ideas and experiences which allow them to take advantage of Ithaca’s wealth of academic opportunities across disciplinary boundaries.

Study abroad opportunities are available at the Ithaca College London Center, through the Walkabout Down Under program in Australia, as well as in over 20 other countries with affiliated programs across the globe. In addition, the Communications Program in Los Angeles, the Gerontology Institute, the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, and a number of combined programs with other colleges and universities, offer opportunities for students to enhance their educational and professional experiences. One measure of the value of an Ithaca College education is that 97% of its students report that they are either employed or attending graduate school within a year of graduation.
